現在、プロジェクトには最初から暫定的な納品時間が決まっています。その間、顧客やプロジェクトに関心のある人たちは、開発され納品される数か月後まで結果がわからず、そのため、往々にしてその後の「調整」が必要となり、最悪の場合、顧客の高い期待に応えるため、調整に開発以上の時間がかかることになります。

こうした要因により、開発サイクルの最後になってから、製品が顧客の期待とは異なることがわかり、そこに至ってから初めて、実際に何が期待されているかが明らかにされることになります。でも、顧客が製品の開発推移を目の当たりにし、開発サイクル中に疑問が解消されるという、より「動的な」方法があります。スクラムなどの方法論の利用です。

なぜアジャイル方式なのか？

アジャイル方式とは、完成前の製品について、いわゆる部分的な納品や反復によって、より動的で進化的な開発を行うことです。反復またはサイクルはスプリントとも呼ばれます。

「スクラムなどのアジャイル手法を使用することで、クライアントは配信と対話し、最終製品の部分的な結果を証明します」

これは、スプリントの中で製品が開発され、完成すると顧客に届けられることを意味します。スプリント１が開始されると、製品は顧客に納品されますが、同じスプリント内で並行して、次の納品の開発に向けての作業が行われます。

スクラムなどのアジャイル方式を使用することで、顧客は納品が行われるたびに、最終製品の部分的な成果を目にすることができます。したがって、調整を要求する場合、最終納品まで待つ必要がなく、スプリントに追加して調整を行うことができ、そのスプリントの納品時に要請したものを確認することができます。

このように、アジャイル方式のスクラムは、顧客の期待という観点から見ると、パラダイムシフトを意味するものです。これにより、顧客のビジョンについてより良い結果と方向性を生み出すことができます。
